GLOWING SENSES: These collection of photos capture moments of childhood, nostalgia, and memory. The location of these images are in Northern Kentucky area highlighting both rural and suburban landscapes. The setting is both site specific and autobiographical along with intuitive shots seeking out senses and feeling that are encapsulate the themes. Senses like sounds, colors, and feelings were primary elements that were focused on to recreate the childlike experiences. For example, windchimes, birds, and running water are sensory aspects that capture that mood or age. With the season of these documented images being spring it correlates to growth and change that occurs in childhood. These are both evident in this series with portraying transitional subject matter. Such as revisiting areas of my childhood, contrasting black and white with color film, modes of transportation, fences and barriers, etc. Through time the locations that were revisited have changed with overgrowth, abandonment, or repurposing. Black and white film itself evokes the past and these collections of images are more representative of the dull, calm, and quiet moments. In contrast the color film was intended to be more lively, saturated, and uplifting moments of childhood. Transportation such as trains, cars, bikes, and water are all related to movement through time. The fences and barriers present act as an unknowingness of the future as children age and the obstacles faced as people grow.

FLORAL PHOTOGRAMS: These photograms capture and make permanence of a stage of growth that is in declination. The hydrangeas and foliage are decaying and brittle. Since growth is a cycle with various stages, by highlighting the lower point of growth it recognizes it and relates to remembrance. When remembering fragile parts of growth it contrasts to full blooms. It is a balance to know one, is to know the other. To embrace the peaks of growth is to recognize and be familiar with the pits of it too. It is never a plateau or constant state of being.
