Eye: The eye is representative of two different concepts. Initially, the sketch was focused on the stress and anxiety that comes with insomnia. The line work is shaky and textural to convey that feeling. It has a sense of tension and strain with line weight varying showing depth in different areas. Once the sketch was translated into the screen-printing process, the concept revolved around shifting perspectives. Eyes are used for observation and perspective is malleable. The movement in the linework and the act of layering ink both involve shifting frequently to adjust the best outcome. Both the process of screen printing and the expression of the sketch demonstrate change in perspective.
Materials: ink, print paper.

Process: I started the process of the project with a sketch of my design. Then I used four different sheets of clear acetate to individually draw each layer with an oil-based sharpie. For the screen, Emulsion is applied and exposed with the acetate drawing to make a stencil. Then when the screen is prepped, each layer is applied to the print paper using a large sheet of acetate as a guide to properly align them.
